It seems almost inevitable that Vik Jethwani would start a fine-jewellery business. His grandfather was a major pearl exporter of pearls in Kobe, Japan in the 1960s and 1970s, while his mother brought that business to Dubai’s famous Gold Souk over 25 years ago. Diamonds are Vik’s passion so, after taking the reins of his mother business, he decided to expand it into bespoke fine jewellery. Not impressed with the staid styles usually associated with the more haute side of things, he took a more contemporary approach aided by his wife Natasha who had honed her design skills in London. Bringing a touch of New York’s grit and London’s edge to Dubai’s fine jewellery scene, they have created a line of high-end pieces that are comfortable enough to wear every day. Because what person wants to leave their stones in the safe?
